There is a new update to Picasa that I am loving. When you open a photo in Picasa, it now gives you the option of clicking a button that will open your photo up for editing in Picnik. What is Picnik? It is an online photo editing site that offers everything from basic touch-up to cute and festive frames for your photos. Picnik is an online site, so you will need internet access to use this new feature.
After you click the button it will ask you if you really want to edit in Picnik. Of course you do!
Then a boring white screen.
Then you have Picnik. You can edit your photo, add all sorts of borders and then save the picture back to your computer. If you don’t want to save over your original, make sure you tell it to save a copy.
The one downside to Picnik is that if a feature or frame says Premium next to it, you have to have a paid membership to be able to use it. Their memberships are pretty reasonable. I paid $24.95 for a full year about half a year back. There is so much that you can do with this online program that if you like to edit photos, then this might be a great option for you. There are still plenty of things you can create with Picnik even without a membership.
So go check out Picnik. Next week I will start telling you about my favorite Picnik features!
