Tasty Tuesdays- Green Bean Casserole

I didn't grow up on green bean casserole. I can't remember my mom making it once. The funny thing is, my husband says he doesn't remember eating it as a child either, so we are not sure why it became part of the holiday routine for us. I guess we just like it. Although, once when I was making it, I was very distracted and I put vanilla in instead of soy sauce. Word to the wise, that does NOT taste good. Use the soy sauce. It's MUCH better. :)

2 cans of green beans drained (You can use fresh, you need about 4 cups cooked. I just don't have the time in my life to use fresh very often)
1 can cream of mushroom
1/2 C. milk
1 teaspoon of soy sauce
1.5 C of fried onions
salt and pepper to taste

Mix the green beans, cream of mushroom, milk, soy sauce and one cup of fried onions together. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Sprinkle the rest of the onions on top and bake for five more minutes or until the onions on top are a golden brown.

I made this for Christmas! Our family likes it...although I usually on make it if we are having company.

Happy New Year! :)

I don't think either Mark or I have ever eaten this. We got the ingredients for our wedding... we ate the green beans, but the fried onions are still sitting on the shelf... although I once crushed them up and added them to my meatballs in a pinch... it worked. :)

I'm sad I didn't get any of this over Christmas. And darn the "better myself" goal for the year!

We were lucky enough to have this over Thanksgiving. I don't know why I only prepare it for the one holiday.

I have only made this dish a couple of times and it is something that I enjoy eating. I never knew about adding soy sauce though so thanks for the tip!

This is total comfort food, and I don't know anyone who doesn't like it!
