Swagbucks… What’s a swagbuck??
You may have heard the term swagbuck around the interwebs, especially if you frequent couponing or deal sites. So what gives Swagbucks a spot in my top ten favorite webthings?
If you don’t like free stuff, then you can stop reading here because Swagbucks clearly won’t be the thing for you.
Okay, now that we’ve filtered out the crazies who prefer to pay (and probably even overpay, sheesh!) for each and every possession, let’s talk Swagbucks.
Swagbucks is primarily a search engine. Search using the Swagbucks search instead of Google, Yahoo, or whatever search engine you’re using, and earn a virtual currency called swagbucks. Then you can redeem those swagbucks for myriad items in the Swag Store such as apparel, toys, jewelry, office supplies, or, the most popular item: gift cards to many online merchants, including Amazon.
So how profitable can Swagbucks be for you? Well, last year Swagbucks paid for our Christmas, via Amazon gift cards. (Our Christmas is modest and our family is small, but still… free!)
In addition to earning Swagbucks by searching, you can also earn Swagbucks by
- using coupons for items you’re buying anyway
- purchasing Swagbucks daily deals
- completing special offers or no obligation special offers
- taking a short daily poll or longer surveys
- playing games or watching Swagbucks TV
- trading in used electronics and books
- referring friends
or by entering Swag codes that are posted on the blog — some of which are given straight to you and others that require a little more effort on your part.
If you’re interested in earning Swagbucks, go here to sign up.*
I’d suggest installing the Swagbucks toolbar and/or the widget for your browser, so that’s it’s easy to remember to search with Swagbucks. Plus, just for having the toolbar installed, you’ll earn one Swagbuck each day you open your browser.
Happy Swagbucks-ing! Feel free to comment with any questions.
*In the interest of full disclosure, signing up through that link or the other links in the post counts as a referral for me, meaning that as you earn Swagbucks, I earn Swagbucks, too. If you’d rather not sign up under me, feel free to just go here to sign up without a referral.
Lu (or Lorene if you prefer) is the mom of two sweet little things (except on the days that they aren’t) and the wife of a singing and dancing elementary teacher. She is the proud author of this weekly Wednesdays on the Web (WotW) segment here on Housewife Eclectic and spends the other days of the week blogging about crafts and whatever else comes up at just Lu.
