It’s to celebrate the pioneers who came to Utah.
Pioneer Day is a state holiday in Utah in the United States. It is celebrated on July 24 each year to commemorate the entry of Brigham Young and the first group of Mormon pioneers into Utah’s Salt Lake Valley in 1847. It’s pretty much a week long celebration in Utah with concerts, celebrations, fireworks, a Parade, and the famous Day’s Of 47 Rodeo.

When you think about it we owe so much to those early pioneers. Their life was by no means easy and they established so many of the major cities we have today.
