Glitter Crayon Art

Thank you to Dollar Tree for sponsoring today's project.

There are few things my 5-year-old loves more than creating. Every morning when she wakes up, she asks me what kind of craft we are going to do that day. To help facilitate her love of creating, we have made her an art station full of paper and crayons. While we loved the art station, it needed a little decor to brighten it up and really make it hers. What better what to personalize an art station than with crayons and glitter? This project comes from the Dollar Tree Value Seekers Club, a free club that includes recipes, decor tips and insider information,  and features materials that can all be found at Dollar Tree for only $1 a piece.

You will need:

  • Foam Core
  • Picture Frame ( I used a document frame)
  • Pencil
  • Crayons (You can peel them or leave the papers on)
  • Glue
  • Glitter
  • Pencil

You can find the full instructions for this craft by signing up for the Dollar Tree Value Seekers Club. For my version of this craft, after I traced the letter I wanted onto the foam core, I covered the area with a thin layer of glue and then covered with glitter, shaking off the excess. I waited until the glitter was dry before adding my crayons. I also finished it off with a small flower embellishment, but that is completely optional.
This glitter piece adds the perfect amount of sparkle and fun to my daughter's work space. She loves that it is personalized and I love that it was easy enough that we could make it together. I love it so much I think I will make another for my little sister too.

This is such a fun craft! I would even butt up the ends of the crayons to each other if I would to make one of these with the kiddos, but then again - I just want them to have fun!

My son loves doing crafty stuff too, I would have an art table set up for him, but his two year old brother would fit it and chew all the crayons to pieces and write on the walls, so we don't have anything set up yet, but I really want to make a nice homework station for him since he just started school. Nice giveaway!
