Never Lego My Heart Valentine with Free Printable

We are a Lego obsessed household. I honestly didn't grow up with Legos and so when my daughter was old enough for my husband to pull out his childhood Legos I was surprised by how much fun they had. Since that first night of Lego building, every Christmas and Birthday has revolved around Lego sets. Even the baby got in on the Lego love this last Christmas when we started buying her Duplos. They are a wonderful toy and I enjoy fostering the love of a toy that brings so much creativity.

This year, my daughter was talking about wanting to get Legos for her valentines. She loves minifigures and wanted her class to have some. Since minifigures run 3 for $10 at the Lego store, there was no way I was buying 26 of them, so she helped me make chocolate ones instead. She was thrilled with the results and they were easy enough that she made them almost by herself.

You will need:

  • The Lego Valentine Printable at the end of this post
  • Yellow Candy Melts
  • small cellophane bags
  • yellow and white baker's twine
  • scissors
  • a hole punch
  • a Lego Minifigure mold, I used this one, it comes with the minifigure and a Lego mold for about $6

Add a handful of yellow candy melts to a bowl and microwave for 30 seconds. Stir the melts and then microwave for 30 seconds. Repeat until the chocolate is completely melted and stirs together easily. Add the chocolate to your minifigure mold and allow to sit until the chocolate is set.

Pop the chocolates out of the molds. Take a small cellophane bag and add a minifigure to each one. Print the valentine found at the end of this post and cut them out. Use a hole punch to punch a hole in the valentine. Slip some twine through the hole and then use the twine to tie the bag with the minifigure in it.
With just a little bit of work, you have a cute and fun valentine for any Lego lover!

Chocolate Dipped Valentine's Day Cookies

My daughter wanted fun Valentine's Day treats to take to some of her friends, so we whipped up a batch of these simple Valentine's Day cookies. They are a lot of fun and with all those sprinkles, the kids absolutely love them. They are really easy to make, and we love making them whenever we need a fast treat for something and you can match them to any holiday or party!

 You will need:

  • White melting chocolate
  • Strawberry Sugar Wafers
  • Sprinkles

Put the chocolate in a microwaveable bowl and microwave them 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between each time until they are fully melted.
Dip the wafers in the chocolate. I used a spoon to smooth out the chocolate a bit and take off any excess.
Place the wafers on wax paper and wait for the chocolate to set.
After the chocolate is set, add a few to a cellophane bag and attach a fun valentine and you have the perfect treat for February 14th!

Donut Forget To Be Mine Valentine with Free Printable

If there is one thing my kids love. It is donuts. Their love for those delicious sweet treats was the inspiration behind this Valentine. Why not share what you love with who you love?

For This Valentine You Will Need:

  • The printable (Link at the bottom of this post)
  • Cellophane bags
  • Baker's Twine
  • Donuts!
  • a hole punch

Print and cut out the printable Valentine. Have your child address them. Punch a hole in the corner of each Valentine. Add a couple of donuts (we used the Hostess Donettes) to a cellophane bag.

You can do entire packages of small donuts, or any other thing that has donuts on them. At the dollar store we found donut stickers and donut socks, so it doesn't have to be an actual donut. We have even made fun little donut necklaces in the past out of washers. Thread the twine through the printable and then tie it around the bag and you have a fun and tasty Valentine.

Are your kiddos as obsessed with donuts are mine are?

Valentine's Day Mantel

I finally have a mantel. I have wanted to say those things for years. When we were looking at houses this past summer, it was on my secret wish list. You know the wish list that won't make or break if you buy a house, but you really, really want? That was my mantel. I love having a mantel to decorate for each holiday now. Christmas was a really simple mantel, my entire little people nativity was spread across the top of it. For Valentine's day, I wanted something that was a little more elaborate.

 For this Mantel I Used:

  • 2 Heart Bouquets (Find the tutorial here)
  • 2 Wedding Pictures in acrylic frames
  • Red and Brown Burlap Ribbon
  • Wooden X's and O's
  • A chalkboard with all the places we have lived. (Find tutorial here)

I am completely in love with these heart bouquets on either end of the mantel. They were so easy to make and I was able to pick up most of the key ingredients like the vases and the sand at the dollar store. You can read the entire tutorial here.
This Chalkboard is probably one of my favorite projects of 2016 so far. It has so much meaning to my husband and I, highlighting all of the important places that have truly made us a family. It was really easy to make and I had all the supplies on hand already. Find the entire tutorial here.

I love having wedding pictures out as part of my Valentine's Day decorations. My aunt used to do it and I love the look and the sentiment. I wanted the pictures to really pop and be the focus, not a frame, so I picked up cheap acrylic frames that have a little stand on them. that way there is only picture, and nothing distracting.

I twisted the burlap ribbon together and then laid it across the top of the mantel. The chalkboard maps in the center with heart bouquets on each side. The pictures went next to the bouquets and then I had this weird empty space. I tried smaller pictures there and little marquee letters, but nothing look quite right. While wandering the craft store looking for a solution, I stumbled on the wooden letter aisle and picked up the X's and O's. I brought them home and painted them they were just the perfect touch. I love having a large one of each and a small one.
The whole thing came together perfectly! I have a large antique window hanging on my wall that I need to pull down for another Disney Gallery Wall and I might add it behind the chalkboard to give it some more height. I love the red, white and pink and this mantel makes me happy every time I look at it!
Do you decorate your mantel for Valentine's Day?

Cute as a Button Valentine with Free Printable

We have a secret obsession in our house. Buttons. No, not the one of your shirt, the pin back buttons with fun sayings and such on them. I started picking them up at book signings and my daughters fell in love with them. First we had them on a tote bag and now we keep our crazy collection on a canvas. It has everything from Doctor Who, to Harry Potter and lots in between on it. My daughter wanted to share our button love with her class this year and this is what we came up with.

You will need:

  • The printable at the end of this post
  • scissors
  • pin back buttons (I found all of these at my local dollar store about 8 for $1)

We went searching or cheap pin back buttons and found 8 packs at the dollar store. They were perfect and valentine-y for this project. Simply print the printable preferably on cardstock, and then cut each valentine out. Have your child address the valentines and then slide a pin into each card and secure, use the pin itself, no tape or glue necessary. This is probably one of the easiest valentines ever and I think the kids are going to LOVE them!
Do you have any silly buttons laying around?

Jammin' at Monster Jam

We just got back from our very first time at Monster Jam and it was an absolute blast! My husband even came with us, which considering it is usually just me and the girls, means it was completely awesome! It was louder than we expected and we were glad that we brought ear plugs, but we had so much fun. Lots of trucks and lot of crashes. What could be better than that?

My girls loved it and they loved cheering on the two girl drives in the pack, as well as the crowd favorite, Grave Digger. I think the wheelie competition was by far my favorite with the free style following in second. It was a great night out with the family and we will for sure be doing to again!
