Cute as a Button Valentine with Free Printable

We have a secret obsession in our house. Buttons. No, not the one of your shirt, the pin back buttons with fun sayings and such on them. I started picking them up at book signings and my daughters fell in love with them. First we had them on a tote bag and now we keep our crazy collection on a canvas. It has everything from Doctor Who, to Harry Potter and lots in between on it. My daughter wanted to share our button love with her class this year and this is what we came up with.

You will need:

  • The printable at the end of this post
  • scissors
  • pin back buttons (I found all of these at my local dollar store about 8 for $1)

We went searching or cheap pin back buttons and found 8 packs at the dollar store. They were perfect and valentine-y for this project. Simply print the printable preferably on cardstock, and then cut each valentine out. Have your child address the valentines and then slide a pin into each card and secure, use the pin itself, no tape or glue necessary. This is probably one of the easiest valentines ever and I think the kids are going to LOVE them!
Do you have any silly buttons laying around?

I totally get the button obsession. I love to browse through displays and one of my favorite memories is looking through my grandmother's button box as a child. She had buttons of all shapes, sizes, colors and materials. Many of them had a story, like the buttons she kept from her wedding dress.

Oh how cute!!! I never really got into scatter buttons but this is an adorable idea for class Valentines! And "The printable at the end of this post" made me think of The Monster at the End of This Book, gave me a chuckle.

That is adorable! My kids have been talking to me about Valentine's. They seem to be really excited about making valentines this year, and here I am not thinking about it at all because my husband's birthday is the 12th and we don't celebrate as much afterwards!

It's amazing how actually buttons can give a rather different beneficial beside using them as button alone. This idea is just great! And those buttons are so cute.
