Book Page Harry Potter Ornaments

If someone ever made me choose between Doctor Who and Harry Potter, I don't think I could do it. I have a deep love for both and since I have long been known for my awesome Doctor Who Christmas Tree, I decided this year was the year to add a Harry Potter tree to the mix. I have been creating up a storm and I can't wait to share all of the amazing Harry Potter ornaments that I have come up with, today I am sharing four different ways to make amazing ornaments with just an ornament and a copy of Harry Potter.

I love picking up copies of Harry Potter when I am at thrift stores, I know that I can always find a fun craft for them, so head to your local thrift store and look for a cheap copy, any of the books will work for these projects.

 You will need:

  • a glass ornament
  • a copy of Harry Potter
  • scissors
  • mod podge
  • glitter

Remove pages of Harry Potter at the binding. Cut strips of text about two lines wide, any wider than that and they don't stick to the ornament as well. Use a foam brush to brush Mod Podge on the back of each strip of text wrap the strip around the ornament and repeat over and over again until the entire ornament is covered in paper strips.

Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge on top of the entire ornament. Shake a small amount of glitter on the ornament while the Mod Podge is still wet. Allow the ornament to dry completely and then add a ornament hanger and add to your tree!

You will need:

  • a glass ornament
  • a copy of Harry Potter
  • scissors
  • a pencil

Remove pages of Harry Potter at the binding. Cut strips of text about two lines wide. Roll the paper strips around the pencil and slide the strip off the end. Stick the paper roll into the top of the ornament and then shake the ornament and little bit to get it to open slightly. Repeat until the ornament is full of paper rolls.

You will need:
  • square glass ornaments
  • a copy of Harry Potter
  • scissors
  • Mod Podge
Remove the beginning chapter pages of Harry Potter at the binding. Cut the around the illustration, you can leave the chapter title or trim it off. Add a thin layer of Mod Podge to the front of the ornament, place the picture on the front of the ornament, smooth the photo and then add a thin layer of Mod Podge on top of the picture. You can make the ornament double sided by repeating the process on the other side of the ornament.

You will need:
  • a copy of Harry Potter
  • scissors
  • rubber cement
  • black paper
  • ribbon
  • a hole punch
  • a laminator and laminating sheet

Go through your copy of Harry Potter and find some of your favorite quotes. Pull the pages out of the book and trim off the excess around the quote. I wanted the quote on the front of page to stand out so I cut black paper about a half inch bigger than the quote on each side. Use rubber cement to adhere the quote to the the black paper. After it is dry, run all of the quote through the laminator. Trim off the excess lamination and punch a hole in the top of each quote. Thread black ribbon through and tie a loop to hang on your Christmas tree.

Is there anyone in your life that would love these Harry Potter Ornaments?

I adore the idea of the quotes on the tree. I know you have it Harry Potter themed, but I kinda am digging it just for fabulous quotes in general. Totally going to start this tradition...a new quote each year.

I am a huge Harry Potter fan!! These are terrific ideas, but I'd have to find a copy of the books at the thrift store or a garage sale...I could never cut up my own books. They are near and dear to my heart.

This is a great idea! I was just thinking of making a Harry Potter decoration for Christmas this year. I just have to find that old paperback edition, as I wouldn't want to hurt my hardbacks.

It was a goal of mine to make one or two handmade ornaments every year as keepsakes. I should try doing books! Very cute idea.

I wont lie I am not a Harry Potter fan at all but I know many who are. I hope they would be ok with ripping up a copy of their book to make this, and if they are willing this is a great idea.

I know it's crazy but I've never read the Harry Potter books...can't believe I'm admitting that! But regardless these would be great projects to create a book themed tree for any book!

I just read Harry Potter to my boys and they would love these ornaments. Such a great idea because they are little old for normal crafts but they would love these.

Those look really nostalgic to me. I could imagine ornaments like that being hung on Christmas trees in the 1920s. I don't know if they really did or not, but I am just imagining it being so. I like these ornaments a lot.
