You will need:
- white cardstock
- acrylic paint in your desired color
- chalkboard pots (I used these here)
- green pipe cleaners
- hot glue
- chalk
- foam brush
We love using chalkboard pots for these flowers because it adds another level of personalization. Let your children each draw a design on their pot to represent them.
Cut out each of the hand print flowers. Hot glue a pipe cleaner on the back of each one. Fold the pipe cleaners and put 3-6 flowers in each pot.
You will need:
- cardstock
- scissors
- pen
- tape
Trace your children’s hands onto card stock and cut them out.
Cut a long strip of card stock and fold it accordion style. attach it to the back of each hand print. Now grandma and grandpa can have a hug even from far away.
You will need:
- a small box (I used these)
- paint
- pictures
- scissors
- Mod Podge
- Paper, crayons
Have your child paint their memory box in their favorite colors. Cut a picture to fit the top of the box and Mod Podge it on to the top, by adding a thin layer of Mod Podge to the box lid, securing the photo and then adding a layer on top of the photo as well.
Cut other photos and small pieces of paper to fit inside the box and let your children draw and decorate pictures for their grandparents. Fill the box with your favorite photos of your child and photos of them with their grandparents.
You will need:
- a recipe holder (I used these)
- paint
- pictures
- scissors
- Mod Podge
Paint your recipe/photo holder whatever color you want. After the paint has dried cut photos to fit the four sides of the holder and Mod Podge them onto the holder.
Adding a thin layer of Mod Podge to the sides of the block, securing each photo and then adding a layer on top of the photos as well. Allow to dry completely before wrapping.
You will need:
- clear glass ornaments
- paint
Paint your child’s thumb with paint and push it onto an ornament three or four times. If you want to make a snowman use white paint, if you want to make a reindeer use brown. After the thumbprints have dried add small details to fill out the design. For the snowman, add a top hat, arms, buttons and a nose. For a reindeer add antlers, eyes and a nose. Let the designs dry before wrapping.
My kids had an absolute blast making these crafts for their grandparents and they can’t wait to give them away, that is, if I can bear to part with them.

That photo cube holder is so cute! I have tons of old photos in the basement we could do that with. Also, I think I have one of those thumbprint ornaments that my oldest made somewhere.

OMG these are way too cute. Those portable hugs, though! Portable hugs? I never would have thought have that. It is just so sweet. My sister has three older kids (13, 15 and 16) and I think my mom and dad would STILL love that from them! I'm totally making them do it LOL. That's what aunts are for after all!
