Christmas Tree Pine Cones

December 3, 2013 by Wifeeclectic 12 Comments

As the snow falls outside, we pull out the kids crafts inside. I love to craft with my 4-year-old, especially crafts where she can make most of the craft by herself, with some supervision. These darling Pine Cone Christmas Trees were perfect!
You will need:
  • Small pearl type beads
  • Mod Podge
  • Twine
  • Glitter
  • Plastic Snowflakes (I cut mine from a garland)
  • Hot Glue
  • Foam Brush
  • Pine Cones
  • Glue

Add Mod Podge to the edges of of the pine cone with a foam brush. I supervised while my daughter spread the Mod Podge, and she did pretty good all by herself. Sprinkle glitter in a color of your choice all over the pine cone. Wrap Christmas colored twine around the pine cone as a garland.

Add school glue to some of the “branches” and place the pearl ornaments throughout the tree. Technically you can use glue for the glitter as well, but I found that the Mod Podge works better for the glitter and the glue works better for the pearls. Hot glue the Snowflake or other topper to the top of the pine cone. Make sure the pine cone will stand before hot gluing the topper on. Allow to dry completely.
I think this fun little craft is one of my 4-year-old’s favorite from the Christmas season this year. It was easy enough for her to make almost all by herself and she had creative control. What about you, do your kids like to craft?

Those are so pretty! And I have a ton of them – which got about 7 inches of snow on them last night. :-(( I also like rolling them in bacon or other fat and hanging them for the birds. Of course it works here where it's below freezing. Fun craft!

This is such a great project for little ones! Dax has a box of pine cones (not really sure where they came from) but we might just end up doing this with them instead of tossing them in the trash!

These are adorable 🙂 I am working on a blog post with a compiled list of links of family activities to do at Christmas time and I plan to include a link to this post too! 🙂 Is it okay to use one of the photos as well?
