These grown-up chicken nuggets are easy to make, easy on the wallet and something adults and kids will eat. Plus, you can easily transform them into a full meal.

Grown-Up Chicken Nuggets

Chicken nuggets are practically a food group for most kids. Even as an adult there’s something fun about chicken nuggets. But as our palates refine, we want something more sophisticated than the dino nuggets.

Sure, Chick-fil-A nuggets are good, but it’s hard to justify dropping $7 when you have a craving. So make your own faster than you can make it through the drive through!

These grown-up chicken nuggets are easy to make, easy on the wallet and something adults and kids will eat. Plus, you can easily transform them into a full meal.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2-3 chicken breasts, cut into bite-size chunks
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 Tbsp vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp Louisiana hot sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Panko bread crumbs
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

PREPARATION
  1. Whisk the milk, vinegar, hot sauce, egg, flour, cornstarch, salt and pepper together in a large bowl.
  2. Add chicken to the mixture. Remove the chicken in small handfuls and coat in Panko bread crumbs.
  3. Using a large electric skillet, warm oil to medium-high heat.
  4. Carefully add the chicken to the oil, being careful not to let the chicken clump together. If it does, let it fry for a minute, then break apart with a metal spatula.
  5. Fry the chicken on each side for 1-2 minutes. Remove from the oil and allow to rest on a paper towel lined plate.

And there you have it: adult chicken nuggets, ready in 10 minutes. The Panko bread crumbs are the key. They make these nuggets light and crispy. You can serve with your favorite dipping sauce or turn it into a meal by adding the chicken to a bed of rice and top with sweet chili sauce.

These really do sound good and it would be a welcome change from plain old breaded chicken breast.
