You will need:
- Shrinky Dinks
- Markers
- Scissors
- An Oven preheated to 325
- a hole punch
- a necklace chain
I use a cup to trace a circle on the Shrinky dinks and then cut them out. I had my daughter draw a picture of her and my Mother-in-Law together on one circle and then on a smaller circle she wrote “I Love You.” For her last circle, she drew a picture of a rainbow. Make sure to trace your outline and write on the smooth side of the Shrinky Dinks, you can color in your picture on the other side.
When your picture is finished, punch a hole in it. I found that a regular hole punch shrunk to just the perfect size for a necklace. Make sure to punch the holes before you bake them.
Put your pieces on a paper bag and then on a cookie sheet. Place in the oven for 1-3 minutes. The charms will start to shrink and then they will fold over on themselves. Don’t freak out, they will unfold again. The charms are done about 30 seconds after they unfold again. One of my pieces didn’t unfold all the way so I pulled it out of the oven and place a hot pad over it and flattened it with the palm of my hand before it cooled.
