I rarely follow a recipe exactly — I’m always making substitutions based on what’s in my pantry or doubling or halving or one-and-a-halving recipes to get the right amount for the occasion. That’s why I shared this printable substitutions chart earlier, and today I have a matching watercolor style cooking conversion chart. Especially when it comes to thirds of a cup or converting tablespoons and teaspoons, a reference sheet with the common measurements makes the mental calculations easy for a successful baking or cooking experience, so you never again have to Google “how many tablespoons are in a cup?” or “how many cups are in a gallon?”

I’ve seen several reference sheets with specific instructions for “how to halve a recipe” but I decided to include all of the measurements in one chart, and then the mental half-math is pretty simple — maybe even simpler than Googling it or asking Alexa! This one-page color chart includes the conversions for all the standard American measurements, from a teaspoon up to a gallon — including the measurements that are tricky to halve, like 1/3 cup and 3/8 cup. The recipe conversion chart includes the standard measurement, standard conversion(s), plus conversions to fluid ounce measurements (0z) and to metric volume measurements (L and mL) so you can convert your recipe measurements until the sun goes down!

Download the printable below (for HousewifeEclectic subscribers) and add it to your recipe binder. If you don’t have a recipe binder, grab this free set of matching printables to make your own easy recipe binder for go-to recipes!

I like to put this as the back cover of my recipe binder for easy measurement conversions, but you can slip it in a page protector inside a binder, put it on your fridge, or pin it inside your cabinet for quick reference, too.

Happy baking!
