I couldn’t be happier that fall has arrived. We used to joke when we lived in Texas that we had two seasons. Summer and Summer Lite. It never bothered me, until people back home started to post pictures of crisp, colorful leaves and hot apple cider. Then I would spend the fall feeling homesick until they started posting pictures of snow and then I would laugh and head to the beach.
There is pretty much nothing better than the taste of pumpkin, the feel of sweatshirt weather and the crunch of leaves beneath your feet. I have almost as many fall decorations as Christmas, it is just such a wonderful time of year to celebrate. These darling stained glass votives are my new decoration this year and I couldn’t love them more.
You will need:
Mod Podge in Matte
tissue paper in red, yellow and orange
a paint brush
a glass votive
Cut your tissue paper into small squares. They don’t have to be perfectly even, I would it was easiest to cut five or six layers at once. That way I ended up with squares that were mostly similar in size but they weren’t all exact. Take a tablespoon or so Mod Podge and water it down with a little bit of water to help it spread better. Apply Mod Podge in small sections to the outside of the votive and adhere the tissue paper. Smooth the paper out with your fingers. After you have covered the votive with tissue paper, seal the entire outside with another layer of Mod Podge.
Add a tea light to votive and light for that stained glass look.
