My sister sent this recipe to me. I went to the grocery store and stared and stared at the pasta isle before calling and asking if I could use a different kind of pasta. I ended up using rigatoni.
1 box of lined Ziti (Zita is what it is called in our grocery stores- but not lined is okay.) 1 quart bottle of pasta sauce or you can get my homemade recipe here.
Italian Sausage in the chub
Mozzarella cheese, shredded
Parmesan cheese, grated
Brown and drain sausage (you can use meatballs). Heat sauce. Cook and drain Ziti (see package for directions) After all has been cooked you are ready to assemble. In a deep dish casserole pan or lasagna pan put a thin layer of sauce on the bottom. Add a layer of Ziti then add more sauce on top of that. Add sausage and then a layer of mozzarella cheese. Add another layer of Ziti followed by more sauce. Top it all with the rest of the mozzarella cheese (make sure there is a lot) Bake for 30 -35 minuets in a 375 degree oven or until cheese is melted and browned. Shred Parmesan cheese on top before serving.
I love me some baked ziti but being from New Jersey, you can't officially label it "Baked Ziti" without ricotta cheese.
Sounds delicious though!
This sounds delicious. I think I'll make it tonight.. even though tasty tuesday is over. Wummy Wednesday! Thanks!
