Tasty Tuesdays- Oriental Noodles and Beef Sukayaki

This is a two part Tasty Tuesdays this week. My mom starting making these noodles when I was little and they were my favorite for a long time. I once requested crepes and oriental noodles for dinner on my birthday. My mom made me crepes full of oriental noodles, not really what I was going for but she sure thought she was funny.

Oriental Noodles

1 carrot grated
1 medium onion sliced thin
1 lb cooked spaghetti noodles
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 head cabbage
2 teaspoon oil
6 Tablespoons soy sauce
1 Tablespoon sugar

Stir fry vegetables add 2 teaspoon oil and cooked spaghetti, whisk soy sauce, sesame oil and sugar then add noodles.
I have found the secret with this meal is to really stir the sauce into the noodles well. You will know it is stirred enough when the noodles start to turn brown. If there is not enough sauce add more soy sauce but be careful not to overpower the dish.

Beef Sukayaki
2 pounds beef cut into strips
1 large onion
3 stalks celery
1 tablespoon oil
3/4 C. Beef bouillon
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 c. Soy sauce Slice celery at an angle into thin slices and set aside, slice onion, add oil to pan, fry up veggies remove from pan, fry beef add veggies then the rest of the ingredients, simmer 5 minutes, serve with rice.

My dad ate this while he lived in Japan, so it was a staple in our house. We used to get in major trouble for picking the meat out of the frying pan. My dad used to accompany this dish with a whisked raw egg that he dipped his meat into. I have never been able to stomach that idea so I have never tried it.
