Thanksgiving Centerpiece

Usually, it takes everything in me not to decorate for Christmas the second Halloween is over, but this year I decided to find Harvest items I loved to make decorating for Thanksgiving more fun. I made this centerpiece for the middle of our table and I absolutely love how it turned out. It is the right combination colors and textures for a beautiful piece.

You will need:

  • a large brown serving platter
  • a yellow or orange candle in a jar
  • pinecones (I used these from Oriental Trading)
  • metallic pumpkins (I used these from Oriental Trading)

Thanksgiving Centerpiece : Mini Pumpkins

When I picked these metallic pumpkins out, I wasn’t so sure about the metallic part but it ended up adding the perfect amount of shimmer to the project. When the candle is lit is adds an extra level of sparkle to the metallic pumpkins. I used only the white and orange pumpkins and gourds but there are are green ones in the package as well.

Thanksgiving Centerpiece : Pinecones

While I can honestly go into my back yard and pick up pine cones, I loved grabbing this bag because they are all similar in size and shape making them perfect for crafting. The absolute best part? I don’t have to worry about baking out the bugs which is a major win in my book.

First place your candle in the middle of your serving platter. You either want a candle in a jar or to place a pillar candle in a vase in the center, you want some sort of barrier between the candle and the pinecones. Dump the entire bag of pine cones around the candle then add pumpkins and gourds to the plate. Add some on the plate itself and add some on top of the pine cones for a good variety. This centerpiece is especially fun if you choose a great autumn scented candle. This one absolutely makes the whole thing with the smells of pumpkin and cinnamon.
