My name is Debra. I live on the border by the sea in Texas. In other words, I live within minutes of the Mexican Border and really close to the Gulf of Mexico. It is a far cry from my native Utah, but I love it down here and have a hard time imagining ever leaving.
My husband is a 6th grade science/technology/guitar teacher at a middle school in the area. We own a business together, Joyous Moments Photography, and I spend all my time either on the business or with our 2-year-old, Sofie.
I have a degree in journalism from Utah State University (I bleed Aggie Blue) and actually started this blog more than 2 years ago to fulfill an assignment. As I blogged for one of my classes, I found I really enjoyed it. This became our family blog before I decided to separate the two and now this is just my craft/photography/recipe/book review blog.
I can be contacted at housewifeeclectic@gmail (dot) com
My best friend, Lorene, does a feature about the web every Wednesday. Here is a little bit more about here in her own words.
I am married to a wonderful elementary school teacher who serenades me daily (often from the shower). We have a beautiful baby boy who is one-year-old and growing like a weed! I am formally trained as a technical writer (which is not as boring as you imagine!) and do some part-time writing and editing work from home. I post my own craft projects and recipes as Lu over at I am just Lu. I can’t say that I’m a successful crafter or blogger, however, because I spend far more time searching for inspiration and projects than I do actually executing the projects…

Happy SITS day. Am following you after seeing your amazing paper rose tutorial.
I was also married at 19 (but I am wwaayyy older than you are now). I have family throughout Texas. I have a cousin who is a Aggies fan & when I was 16 & visiting, me, her & my brother stole an Aggies football sign (one that cheerleaders make). Then my crazy brother was speeding & we got pulled over (we thought because we stole the sign). Those were the days!
Happy SITS Day!
Hi Debra! So interesting blog.. I like your recipe box and the eclectic booklist too… Sofie is so sweet… Happy SITS Day girl !!!
Hi! What a beautiful blog, love the pictures and the name housewife eclectic. Very cool and inspiring that you worked f/t and went to school and had your baby girl during finals week! Wow! Congrats, she is beautiful! stopping by and following you from SITS!
hi debra, i almost did fall over dead but having my baby in the audience was just enough motivation for me to keep it together.
i love the concept of your blog and i love the "eclectic" theme. every woman should be an arsenal of skills, interests, and loves! specialization is for insects.
Finally I have found a blogging mummy who is as eclectic as I am. Love to follow your blog.
Greetings from Switzerland.
