Tomato Basil Pasta With Fresh Herbs

May 30, 2013 by Wifeeclectic 4 Comments

My 4-year-old is a pretty picky eater. She doesn’t eat meat and turns her nose up at most meals in general. One exception is this meal. It is simple, easy to make and comes together really quickly. I love the fresh taste of this meals and I absolutely love that it is filling but meatless. We try to serve at least a couple meatless meals a week and this the perfect one for a busy night.

You will need:
16 oz Penne Pasta
1 teaspoon Gourmet Garden Fresh Garlic
1 can of tomato sauce
1 can diced tomatoes
3 Roma tomatoes, diced
8 oz of cream
1 teaspoon Gourmet Gardens Fresh Oregano
1 teaspoon Gourment Gardens Fresh Basil
Parmesan cheese
Mozzarella cheese

Cook noodles according to package directions. Saute the garlic and add the canned diced tomatoes, the herbs and the tomato sauce. Stir until well blended and heated through. Add the cream, stir well. Pour sauce over drained noodles in a large pot. Stir until noodles are covered. Add the fresh tomatoes. Top with Parmesan cheese and mozzarella cheese.

I really love to cook with fresh herbs, but unless it is in the middle of the summer and I have my herb garden in the backyard, I don’t often have the opportunity. That is why I absolutely love Gourmet Gardens fresh herbs. They come in tubes and keep for 3 months in the fridge or 6 in the freezer. I love that they let me cook fresh all year. They are so natural that a teaspoon of Gourmet Gardens equals a teaspoon of fresh herbs. I love that I can cook fresh without the herbs going bad. You can find Gourmet Gardens in the fresh section of your local grocery store.
