One thing social distancing has done in our house is made us want to celebrate every aspect of life a little bit more. At the end of Christmas last year, I didn’t put away one of my trees. Ever since then, we have been decorating it for every holiday and it makes life a little bit more special, which is just what we need right now.
Decorating an Easter is so easy! It is also incredibly affordable!
Easter Tree
You will need:
- A tree
- plastic eggs (yup, just the regular cheap plastic eggs)
- a paper mache egg
- paint
- a yard of pink felt
- ornament hangers or paper clips
- a toilet paper roll tube
The great thing about plastic Easter eggs is that they have two holes already drilled in each one. This helps make the eggs safer (less suffocation risk), but it also makes it really easy to slip your ornament hanger through. If you can’t get your hands on ornament hangers this time of year, pull apart some paper clips!
After you add an ornament hanger to each egg, hang them on your tree. I chose to stick with mostly pastel colors, but you can go crazy! A yard of felt makes a great, easy tree skirt. Just gather it around the bottom of your tree until it covers the tree stand.
For the tree topper, paint a paper mache egg shape in any style you want. I painted mine lavender with blue polka dots. After the paint dries, hot glue a toilet paper roll on the back of the egg at the bottom. After the glue dries. Slipp the top of the tree through the roll to hold it securely on top of your tree!
Underneath our tree, we put out cute little Easter baskets full of eggs!
What color of eggs will you decorate your tree with?
