Never Underestimate a Screaming Child
We’ve all been there—holding a crying toddler close, trying to soothe them while they scream directly into your ear. It’s heart-wrenching and exhausting, but did you know it can also harm your hearing? Did your newborn have colic? That was headache-inducing, right? Well, it’s really important to understand that prolonged exposure to loud noises, like a toddler’s high-pitched screams, can cause temporary or even permanent hearing loss.
But when it comes to something like this, what can you even do? Well, to protect your ears, try to turn your head slightly so the sound isn’t directed straight into your ear canal. If possible, use ear protection like earplugs designed to reduce noise while still allowing you to hear your child. Some moms will wearing noise canceling earbuds when soothing their crying child, so that could be something you could try too.
Loud Toys Can Have an Impact

Toys that emit sounds above 85 decibels can damage hearing over time, and some toys exceed this limit. So, you and your child will have their hearing at risk!
When purchasing toys, look for noise ratings and opt for quieter options. If you already have noisy toys at home, consider limiting playtime with them or removing batteries to keep the volume down. Some toys won’t taste how loud they are, so you could always opt for old-fashion quiet toys while wooden toys, no loud nosies from those!
