Granny Smith Apples
Butter1 teaspoon per apple
Brown Sugar2 Tablespoons per apple
Scoop out the center of each apple, leaving the skin on. Make sure not to scoop all the way through the apple, just enough to get out the seeds.
Stuff each apple with two Tablespoons Golden Brown Sugar. This should be just about enough brown sugar to fill up the center of the apple with sugar. Top each apple with 1 teaspoon of butter directly on top of the cinnamon, so it will melt down into the apple when warmed up.
Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg over the top of each the apples. I hit each apple with quite a bit of cinnamon, but if you aren’t a cinnamon fan you can just dust the apples.
Add about an inch of water to the bottom of a glass pan and stand the apples up in the pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes. Serve warm topped with nuts.
These are particularly delicious when served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It is kind of like an apple pie but without the crust!
