11 Natural Tricks for Insomnia

I am not a great sleeper. As a total night owl, sometimes I struggle to fall asleep until 3 or 4 in the morning every night, which ends up messing up the next day too. Hot bath or shower- a hot bath can calm you down and get your body ready for sleep. Try an epsom salt bath with a touch of lavender essential oils to help with the calming effects.



Put away screens at least 30 minutes before bed- Staring at a phone will you are in bed can keep you up long after you have put the screen down. Turning off the blue light and allowing yourself to prepare for bed without a screen will help you fall asleep later.



Set the right temperature- Sleeping in a room that is too hot or too cold will make it harder to fall asleep and stay asleep. Try setting your thermostat around 65 degrees for optimal sleeping.



Get outside in the morning- Help your body's natural rhythm by getting sun during the day.

Stick to a schedule- It is better for your body to wake up and go to sleep at the same time every day. Even on those lazy Saturday mornings!




Try ear plugs and a sleep mask- block out the external stimulants that could be keeping you awake.
