Instructions
The first step in creating a paper bag pinata is to cut down the sides of your bag like in the photo above. You are basically taking a square out of each side of the bag. You can see that I used two bags layered together, but I wouldn’t recommend it. It took FOREVER for the kids to break with it being double bagged.
Fill your Piñata with your goodies and then put the hanger at the opening of the bag. Fold the sides over the hanger and tape it down really good. I used a ton of packing tape to make sure it was secure on the hanger.
I hot glued the Styrofoam ball to the hook of the hanger. The point of this step is just to give a head to your Dementor. After you have given your Dementor a head, it is time to cover him up. You can use black fabric of even layers of tissue paper if you want. You just want to fray the bottom by cutting long strips to make it look like a Dementor. I cut a whole into two piece of fabric and slide it over the head of the Dementor to cover the body and then I wrapped another around the head.
I had planned on hanging the Piñata by the hanger hook but found it was actually more stable to loop it through each side of the hanger. It made the Piñata hang more evenly.
The kids had a blast breaking it open! It was a favorite part of the party for sure.
