Quiet book tutorial week 3- Flower button page

August 9, 2010 by Wifeeclectic 9 Comments

This is one of my little girl’s favorite pages. She loves to button the flowers on and off. It is a super simple page. You will need:
A full size sheet of felt
Scraps of yellow, dark green, and different colors for the flowers. I did pink, purple and red. You will also need three large buttons. The little butterfly on my page is actually a cut out from a preprinted piece of felt that I found at Hobby Lobby.

Download and print out my pattern (at the bottom of the post), which, thanks to my husband, actually looks a pattern this time around. Cut out all the stems and the piece of grass in the dark green. Cut one of the flowers in one shape and two in the other. Cut one sun in yellow and cut small pieces to use as the sun rays. I used five sun rays. Sew the sun onto the top left corner along with its rays. Sew the stems on and then hand stitch the buttons onto the page above each stem. DO NOT SEW THE FLOWERS ON! Cut a hole into each flower that is big enough for the button to go through. I made my holes pretty big because my little one is just a toddler, I wanted to make it possible for her. Voila you have a cute flower button page.

So cute! I want to attempt a page like this for Paul that is car tires that are buttons… Not sure it'll work, but we'll see. 🙂

Why do you keep tempting me with this felt book? That's not my project for August and now you've got me daydreaming about things I could do with my over-grown felt stash again. 😉

By the way, did your candy-making kit ever arrive?
