For the past three years, I have lived in a part of the country that only has two seasons. Summer and Summer Lite. Although, I haven’t missed the snow, I have missed the fall leaves. This year we are finally back where I can see all the beautiful yellows, reds and oranges that fall brings. I love shooting in the leaves. They make the perfect back drop for brides, families and individual children.
Leaves can be used as a simple backdrop, or they can be used as prop. One of my favorite ways to shoot with leaves is to have the subject grab a large armful of leaves and throw them up into the air. I then rapidly capture photos as the leaves fall down around them. If you want great candid photos with a group of children or a family, a leaf fight might be just the ticket.
The month of October is the best time to take advantage of the beautiful fall colors. While leaves are a favorite, I make sure to never plan an entire shoot around them because you cannot predict the first frost.
Leaves will always be among my favorite items to photograph. The bright colors make everything pop.

Oh my goodness. I am dying over that baby in the fall leaves. We don't have a lot of trees by my house, so I'm going to have to find a park and take CB for some pictures.
