6 Sided Valentine Blocks

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. I love pulling out all of my pink and red decorations and making valentine’s boxes and having our traditional surf n’ turf dinner at home. It was a holiday I hated before I was married but I have come to love and adore as a spouse and a mom. I love buying each of my kids a box of chocolates and writing my husband a card each year. I also feel like Valentine’s Day is a fun excuse to pull out all of our old wedding photos and decorate with them. These blocks have quickly become one of my favorite decorations. My kids love rearranging them and I love the fun personal touches.
You will need:
  • Four wooden blocks (mine are 2×2)
  • white paint
  • mod podge
  • a foam brush
  • scrapbook paper
  • black vinyl
  • glitter vinyl or stickers
  • a way to cut the vinyl

Paint each of the blocks your desired color and allow them to dry completely.

Trace the blocks onto pieces of scrapbook paper and cut out four squares of each color. I used four pieces of scrapbook paper on four sides I used paper and on one side I used photos and one side I used stickers.

Add a thin layer of Mod Podge to the sides of the blocks and secure the paper to each side.

Seal the paper on the blocks by adding a coat of Mod Podge on the top of each piece of paper.

Find photos that can be cropped to fit on the blocks. I used four pictures from our wedding day and traced the blocks on top of them and cut them out. Secure the photos to one of the blank sides of the blocks with a layer of Mod Podge and then finish it with a layer on top.

Cut vinyl out with a vinyl machine in different saying for each of the four sides with scrapbook paper on them.

My first side says L-O-V-E.

My second side says M-I-N-E.

The third side says H-U-G-S.

The fourth side says X-O-X-O and the last side has glitter vinyl hearts on them.

The blocks can be stacked on top of each other or laid out long ways. Since each block has a wedding picture and hearts on it, you can replace a vowel with a wedding photo or hearts if you want to help change it up.

These blocks are so darling and could be personalized with names and pictures of your children as well. I kind of want to make a set with pictures on each side of my husband’s office. Valentine’s Day is coming fast and these blocks are a quick and fun craft that anyone would love to receive, just pair it with a Hallmark Signature card and you have the perfect and memorable gift.

These Hallmark Signature Cards at Walmart are absolutely gorgeous cards with extra little touches to make them special. The one I bought my husband has little hearts popped out of the card all over the front of it.

Right now at select Walmart locations, you can find a coupon for $2 off a 2 card purchase (min $2 purchase required) that expires 2/15 right in the aisle. I was able to select my cards for my husband and my kids and get a coupon right there without any clipping necessary. You can find any kind of card for your Valentine in their Hallmark collection right now.

Thanks for sharing this! I always get sad when Christmas is over because all the decorations go back in the closet, but this is a reminder that all holidays can be decorated for!
