I knew the second I let it escape that I read this book and I didn’t review that there would be requests for a review and my suspicions were correct. Honestly? I didn’t review it because I didn’t know what to say.
I loved this book but there were times when I was completely embarrassed to be loving it. While the story is completely captivating and original, it is riddle with swearing, sex and the like. Sometimes a page had so many F words on it that I would literally turn around hoping no innocent child was reading over my shoulder. Since the basis of the story is a man who time travels and has no control over and since every time he time travels he ends up at his destination nude, it made for some very interesting scenes that the easily offended would be best to not read this book.
If you could get past all of the grit, the underlying story was beautiful, romantic but frustrating and twisting all at the same time. I love that the story switched vantage points and we heard the events from different people.
This story never left be bored but it did leave me blushing a few times.
I loved this book! Seriously, it has made my top 5 for sure! HOWEVER- I totally agree with you about the language and the content. There were a couple time when I put the book down and decided not to finish it. But the story and it's premise were so captivating, I found myself drawn to it like a moth to the light. I hope to someday own my own copy so I can go through and mark out all the F- bombs… I don't know why the author felt the need for them. Anyway, thanks for the review.
felt the same way about The Nanny Diaries. If they had left the language out, especially the multiple drops of the "F bomb," I probably would have liked it better. good story, but too much potty mouth. I want to read Time Traveler's Wife. maybe it will make the list next time I go to the library.
SERIOUSLY, I've been thinking for a LONG time that books need to have a rating on them! How on earth would you ever know that was in there??? And the movie looks so cute too…dang it. Thanks for the heads up!
