My mom quickly discovered when we were kids that if she put real candy canes on the Christmas tree, they disappeared pretty quick. So instead, we put these candy canes on the tree. They are the perfect craft for a elementary school child.
You will need:
Pipe cleaners
tri-beads in candy cane colors
Cut your candy cane the length that you want it. Then add the tri-bead to it. It looks best when you add two tri-beads of the same color to each layer. Rotate between red and white (or your other selected colors). When you are done, bend the pipe cleaner back on itself and cut off the excess. Curve the pipe cleaner to look like a candy cane and voila a candy cane!
My mom used to put all the pieces to make one of these ornaments in a plastic bag and bring them for our crafts in elementary school She would hand each kid a bag and they could easily make the ornament with minimal instruction.
Great blog. Met you on Pic the Holidays!
I love these! These beads always remind me of the pretty beaded bobby socks I used to have…
