Candy Corn Decor From Pots

September 10, 2017 by Wifeeclectic 19 Comments

This darling Candy Corn Decor is made from little planters! The perfect Halloween decoration.

There is nothing cuter than candy corn decor. I may hate eating candy corn, but I sure love decorating with it! Candy Corn Decorations are my favorite crafts to make every fall! When Oriental Trading sent me these little pots, I knew they were destined to be turned into candy corn.

These candy corn are so easy to make and can be made with wooden pots or with Terra Cotta. You can find my  Terra Cotta Candy Corn Ornaments here.

Candy Corn Decor

You will need:

  • wooden planters or Terra Cotta Pots (I found mine at Oriental Trading here)
  • masking tape
  • white, orange and yellow paint
  • a foam paint brush

These wood planters are so easy to turn into fun Candy Corn for Halloween.

Cover the center of your pot with tape. On these pots, I started taping 2 inches from the bottom. If you use a round pot, you can tape in one long strip. With these pots, it is better to tape each side individually so the tape doesn’t shift over the corners.

With Masking Tape and these planters, you will soon have cute Candy Corn decorations

Paint the bottom part of the pot white and the top part yellow. Since both of these are such light colors it will take a few coats to get the color nice and vibrant.

Paint the Yellow and White first on these cute Candy Corn Decorations.

After the paint has completely dried, peel off the tape and retape, this time taping over the white and yellow parts of the Candy Corn. Add tape again will help make sure that the lines stay crisp as you paint the orange.

Add orange to these little planters to create the perfect piece of Candy Corn Decor.

Paint several coats of orange in the middle of the pot. After the paint has dried, peel the tape off and you have a darling piece of Candy Corn decor! You can either use it as a planter, or turn it upside down and use it simply as decor. I made three and I love stacking them!

Do you have any Candy Corn Decor?

This is much better than actual candy corns. It’s simple yet festive. The color combo is classic.

These are adorable! I know you’re using them as candy corn planters, but I think this color combo would look great in the spring too.
