For the last year or so, I have had the opportunity to be apart of the Delicious Reads book club. The book club has been around more than a decade and is known for their fun ways of celebrating each and every book. This October was my first time ever hosting and it just so happened to be a host’s dream book. Dracula. I may have gone a little over the top with the help of the moderator, Whitney, but I was thrilled with each and every touch, so here is how we threw our Dracula Dinner party, so you can create a delightful and spooky part of your own.
The very first thing I did was add stone paper to the walls. I feel like it really changes the look and feel of the room. You can find the stone paper I used here.
I covered the table with a red fabric tablecloth and use a black lace table runner. I found these awesome candelabras at Michaels in their Halloween section and filled them with red candles. I put teas all over the place. Some real, some electric.
Each place setting included a gold charger, a black paper plates, a rolled up red napkin with vampire teeth used as the napkin ring.
I covered my piano with black plastic tablecloths and took the opportunity to cover it in potion bottles, candles, and skulls.
You can find the full post about my potion bottles here: https://www.housewifeeclectic.com/2016/10/wizard-potion-bottles-with-free.html
You can also find the metallic pumpkins I created here: https://www.housewifeeclectic.com/2015/09/metallic-halloween-flower-arrangement.html
I found a collapsible coffin which was the perfect touch! You can find a collapsible coffin here:https://amzn.to/2yyz8PY
I also added cobwebs and bats just everywhere that they would work! The amazing bat in the center of the piano is actually real that one of the girls had! They are naturally dead bats that are saved and preserved. You can find something similar here: https://amzn.to/2D7hkPR. Please look for one that uses naturally dead bats.
Some of the vampire touches at the party itself including a red velvet cake dripping in blood.
Delicious cupcakes with a bite mark in each one.
Drinks with a shot of “blood” for each one. We also had gummy vampire teeth and added fake flies to the drink to celebrate the book.
Overall it was an incredibly fun night based on a classic.
