Fablehaven fans rejoice! Your favorite characters are back! Dragonwatch features Kendra, Seth and many more in this long hoped for sequel series.
In the long-awaited sequel to Fablehaven, the dragons who have been kept at the dragon sanctuaries no longer consider them safe havens, but prisons and they want their freedom. The dragons are no longer our allies….
In the hidden dragon sanctuary of Wyrmroost, Celebrant the Just, King of the Dragons, plots his revenge. He has long seen the sanctuaries as prisons, and he wants nothing more than to overthrow his captors and return the world to the Age of Dragons, when he and his kind ruled and reigned without borders. The time has come to break free and reclaim his power.
No one person is capable of stopping Celebrant and his dragon horde. It will take the ancient order of Dragonwatch to gather again if there is any chance of saving the world from destruction. In ancient times, Dragonwatch was a group of wizards, enchantresses, dragon slayers, and others who originally confined the majority of dragons into sanctuaries. But nearly all of the original Dragonwatch members are gone, and so the wizard Agad reaches out to Grandpa Sorenson for help.
As Kendra and Seth confront this new danger, they must draw upon all their skills, talents, and knowledge as only they have the ability to function together as a powerful dragon tamer. Together they must battle against forces with superior supernatural powers and breathtaking magical abilities.
How will the epic dragon showdown end? Will dragons overthrow humans and change the world as we know it?
I will admit it. I had never read Fablehaven. If felt like I was the only person I knew who hadn’t taken the chance to pick up those books. When Dragonwatch came in the mail, I sat down to read it. I got three chapters in and I just wanted to know more. Why was Kendra like a fairy? Was Seth always this crazy? Readers don’t NEED to read Fablehaven to understand Dragonwatch, but trust me, you will want to. I put down Dragonwatch and picked up Fablehaven. Six days and six books later I am done with the series and Dragonwatch and I am SO happy Brandon Mull decided to continue his famous series.
Dragonwatch features the main characters of the previous series, Kendra, Seth, Bracken and well as Grandma and Grandpa Sorenson. It talks about some of the other series favorites but you don’t see them in this book. It introduces some new characters, including a tiny hero that is one of my favorite characters. A nipsie is the perfect little spy to have on your side.
In the last series we got to see Kendra and Seth develop into fierce adversaries in their own right, this series we see them need to work together to be co-caretakers of the dragon sanctuary featured in book four. Each of them is only one half of a dragon tamer, so they need to stay close together to perform their role as caretaker. They are a good team, Seth is as crazy as ever, being absurd sometimes and saving the day at others because he is willing to take risks no one else will. Kendra is continually the sensible one, helping keep Seth out of trouble at times and jumping right in with him at others.
This series is definitely for middle grade readers, but it is something adults can enjoy too. I felt like this book was more on the same pace as the first Fablehaven. A little bit slow moving to build up the world and plot line. It makes it all the more exciting to see how the next books are going to pick up the pace.
Since reading this book, I have started Fablehaven over with my second grader. She is loving the story and can’t wait to get to the book that features the dragons.
This book is a must read for Fablehaven fans and potential fans alike!

Sounds like a great book. I have never really been into fantasy stories but this one does sound like one that would be hard to put down. Adding it to our list!

This is what a call a great beach read. When you're laying in the sun or the shade on a beautiful day, it's great to get lost in a good book that is out of the realm of reality. Looks like just the ticket. Thanks!

Sometimes, I love to take a step back from adult books and read a little YA fiction. When I do, I prefer fantasy. I haven't heard of this series, but I know that my husband would like it, too. We both read so many technical books that we like books that are a little less mentally taxing for our overworked minds.

I have an 8 year old who reads advanced books and would love this book. I had never heard of this series before. Love the suspense this story creates with the dragons separating as allies.

I'll be honest, I'm not really into sci-fi however, I have seen these books around AND I've heard that they are a great read!

I have never heard about this books before, but this would be something my son would love. I am more a novel type of reader, but I am sure I can get them for my son. I will buy one to see what he thinks. Thanks for the recommendation
