Easy Cyberman Ornament

November 30, 2016 by Wifeeclectic 16 Comments

It is no secret that I am a huge Doctor Who fan. My purse look like a Tardis, my office is covered in Doctor Who memorabilia and even my favorite pair of shoes bear the Police Box logo. It only make sense that I have a Doctor Who Christmas tree. This tree is one of my absolute favorite things and I can’t wait to pull it out every year.
My fantastic friend made most of the pieces on the tree and every year I add to it with a couple of homemade ornaments and a few purchased ones. Today I am showing you how to make this fun and easy Cyberman, but if you love the rest of the tree, you can scroll to the bottom of this post to find more information on each piece.
This Cyberman is the perfect addition to the Christmas tree of any Doctor Who fan.

You will need:

  • a silver matte finish ornament
  • silver pipe cleaners
  • black vinyl
  • a way to cut the vinyl
  • hot glue

To make these ornaments, select the great big blue, Create a New Project button on the Cricut Explore site. Make the eyes for the Cyberman by inserting two circles and two rectangles. Each eye needs to be about a quarter of an inch wide. Shrink the rectangles to be the size of eye slits and place it where it should be in the right corner of the circles. Use the group feature by high lighting both the circle and the small rectangle, right clicking and group them together as one object. Make the mouth by adding a small line in Design space.

Once everything looks right, set your machine to vinyl and hit the Go button. Weed off the excess vinyl by pulling up a corner of the vinyl.  After you weed out your image, place a piece of transfer tape over the top of it. Using the edge of a scraper or credit card, smooth the transfer tape over the design until it pulls up from the backing. Lay the design down on your ornament and use the credit card to smooth it down again.

Cut a pipe cleaner in half, bend the pipe cleaner into a half square. Hot glue the pipe cleaner to one side of the ornament, slide the pipe cleaner through the ornament loop and then hot glue it to the other side.

Add a hook and hang it with the rest of your Doctor Who ornaments on your tree!

Is there anyone in your life who would love this ornament?
