I have fall on the brain. Today I started decorating with reds, yellows and oranges. Pumpkins and witch hats are starting to take over our space, even though it is only September. I love the colors of the falling leaves, so I decided I needed something that would make those colors pop, Today I am back with “We Do It Wednesdays,” doing just that.
This kit from Fab Decor, comes with the wood and vinyl to make your own mini stacker, you just add paint and whatever else you want, to make it your own.
To make it look like mine you will need:
- red and yellow paint
- Modge Podge
- red and yellow paper
- white thick ribbon and orange thin ribbon
I really wanted to play on the colors of leaves and since most of the vinyl was orange, I painted my wood red and yellow. I painted the largest and smallest pieces red and Modge Podged yellow paper onto them. Then I painted the middle piece yellow and Modge Podged red paper onto them. Make sure to smooth out the air bubbles before you apply the vinyl.
I applied the vinyl using a credit card. A lesson I learned here, let the Modge Podged wood sit for quite awhile before you try to apply vinyl or you will have a hard time getting it to stick. I was too impatient at first and even though everything seemed dry, my vinyl wouldn’t stick. I came back an hour later, when everything was ultra dry and had no problem.
Then I took a long piece of thick, white-wired ribbon and a thin piece of orange ribbon the same length and twisted them together. I hot glued the orange ribbon to the white ribbon in a few key spots, and finished off the stacker with a big bow.
I love this cute little stacker. It is the perfect addition to my fall decor.
