Felt Football Banner with Cricut Maker

January 16, 2018 by Wifeeclectic 18 Comments

Felt Football Banner

I don’t know about you, but in this house, we are so excited for the Big Game. We love everything Football from college to the pros, we watch it all. Every year we host a big party at our house for the game and I love decorating for it. This year I decided to pull out my Cricut Maker and have some fun with felt. I am still so impressed by just how well the Cricut Maker cuts felt. I had this entire banner done in 10 minutes that is how easy it makes it!

You will need:

  • White Felt
  • Brown Felt
  • A Cricut Maker
  • Hot Glue
  • Twine

If you want to make things really easy on yourself, you can find my cut files here.

Open Design Space and hit the New Project Button. Hit Images on the left hand side of Design Space and search for a Football. I used Image #M3AD9D from Life’s a Party. Resize your footballs to be the size you want them by clicking on the image and dragging the arrows in the bottom right corner of the image. My Footballs are 5.5 inches tall.

The machine will cut your football two different times. First is will cut your white felt, which is the background for your football and then it will cut the more complex brown felt. I cut two pieces of white felt to every football so that I could sandwich the twine in between the two, but you can simply and just do one if you want to.

After you have all of your pieces cut out and peeled off the mat (peel the footballs slowly, the thin areas can rip) hot glue the top of your football to the background color. After this is done, hot glue the twine to the back of the football. Here is where you can add an extra piece of felt over top of the twine and hot glue if you want to. As soon as you are done gluing, your banner is done and ready to hang!

The best part of this banner is that it folds down so small so you can save it and pull it out again next year! Check out some more amazing Cricut projects using felt below.

That felt football banner would be perfect for any Super Bowl or Game Day party! I’m not the biggest football fan but I’m a huge DIY/party planner lover.

That banner just too cute. It’s way easier to make than I would have thought. I bet there will be a lot of these on super bowl sunday!

Making the banner out of felt keeps the cost down and felt is easy to work with. Cute idea. My husband would be like thats nice now where is the hot wings. Sigh.

I think banners add so much to a party’s theme (I am obsessed with themed parties). I’m so used to just cutting everything by hand – I should really just get a cricut already!

This came out so good! I really need to pick up a cricut. I always hear how great it is. I’d make some Valentine’s Day decorations.

Those are totally cute! I don’t have a Cricut machine, even though I’d love to own one. However, a friend of mine does, so I’m gonna send this to her! Her family are also huge football fans.

This banner is so much prettier than the one I purchased for my football viewing party. I need a Cricut so I can make your football banner. It’s so cute!

Oh I love this football banner. It is perfect for the Super Bowl or for a kids’ birthday party. Wish I would have seen this before my nephew’s first football themed birthday party.

I am totally not crafty, but this looks easy enough for me. I might have to give this a try the day before the big game this year.

The football banner looks great. However, I don’t usually decorate because I focus more on getting the food ready. I have a male dominant household and boy, can these males eat! Ha ha. I will save this idea though. The banner would work with other sports themed parties too.

That is super cute. I just got myself a Cricut Maker for Christmas so I’ll have to make one of my own.
