After years of desperately wanting a mantel to decorate for holidays, I finally have one. My gorgeous white mantel is everything I wanted it to be and I am loving decorating it for the holidays. I thought I loved my Valentine’s Day mantel, but it has been since overshadowed by my St. Patrick’s Day mantel. The whole St. Patrick’s Day mantel is bright, cheery and my current favorite part of my house. I will be sharing the elements of the mantel over the next few days, starting with these gorgeous Mason jars.
These jars are simple and honestly really stunning in person. They are usually the first thing people comment on when they see my mantel and I love them so much I want to find a place for them long after St. Patrick’s Day is over.
You will need:
- Mason Jars
- Gold Spray Paint (I used Krylon Gold/Metallic)
- Green Tipped Fake Carnations
Lay out a sheet or drop cloth and place your Mason jars on it upside down. Holding your can of spray paint about 6 inches away, spray an even coat of spray paint all over the jar. I didn’t spray the inside, but you could if you wanted to. It needs to be at least 50 degrees outside to be able to paint outside effectively. Since we are still under feet of snow here in Utah, it is definitely not 50 degrees, but I don’t ever let it stop me. I like to spray paint in my garage. I will open the door while I am actually painting and then close it to help the paint dry evenly. Before I had a garage I would often spray paint outside and then bring what I was painting inside between coats to keep it warm.
After your jars are completely dry, flip them over and add flowers to them. I found these darling green tipped carnations with gold coins at my local Dollar Tree. I have found the trick to having flowers from the dollar store look good in a vase is to combine a few sprigs of them. Each of my jars has two sprigs and they looks great, if you use bigger jars consider adding 1 or 2 more sprigs. I am in love with how they turned out and I can’t wait to show you the complete mantel!
What about you? Is the green and gold coming out at your house?
I LOVE gold mason jars, such a simple and inexpensive way to glam up! We did tons of these for my friends wedding! Now you can use them for many holidays 🙂

This is gorgeous! I love the gold, and I love the sparkly green on the flowers. Such a great idea for St. Patty's Day!
I wasn't thinking of adding green and gold but after seeing this I want to do this. I love getting stuff at my dollar tree too.
These are too cute! We don't typically decorate for St. Patrick's day but my Irish grandmother goes all out and has so much fun with it. My sisters and I love helping her decorate, we've done it since we were little!
