Harry Potter Potion Ornaments with Free Printables

What would a Harry Potter Christmas tree be without some potion bottles? Gillyweed, Veritaserum and Skele-Gro all make important appearances in the series at one point or another and definitely belong on a tree celebrating our favorite wizards.

Potion Ornaments

These bottles are so easy to make and there is even a free printable to make it easier!

You will need:

  • the printables at the end of this post
  • cork bottle ornaments (I found mine at Joanns)
  • Mod Podge
  • a foam brush
  • scissors
  • things to fill your jar with (water with food coloring, glitter, toy bugs)

Cut out each of the potion labels and coat the back of them with Mod Podge. Place the labels to the front of a bottle and then add a layer of Mod Podge over the top to secure it to the bottle.

Fill the bottles with whatever you want! Herbs and leaves would work great in some. Half marbles or marbles look fantastic. Water with a few drops of food coloring mixed in makes a creepy and fun bottle. Black fine glitter also looks like a fantastic magical substance when in a jar. My Gillyweed bottle is filled with Italian Seasoning, my Shrivelfig bottle is filled with black sprinkles and Skele-Gro is filled with white sprinkles.

Once your bottles are filled, add a ring of hot glue around the cork and then secure it into the ornament, this will prevent messy spills later.

Hang on the tree and enjoy your Christmas potions!

How creative and fun (and festive) are these? And, if you're not a Harry Potter person, it could totally go for a science person! So clever!

My mom would go nuts over these ornaments. I have never made homemade ornaments, but these are classy and fun and simple. This might have to be part of my gift to my momma this year.
