Harry Potter Wand Ornaments

December 13, 2016 by Wifeeclectic 20 Comments

When I set out to make my Harry Potter tree this year, I knew it needed wands. I have made wands before but always out of chopsticks and they would be way too big for the tree. I looked around and found a package of mini bamboo skewers and decided to give them a try. I LOVE the way they turned out, they are the perfect size for a tree.

You will need:

  • Mini Bamboo Skewers
  • Hot Glue
  • Metallic Silver Spray Paint
  • Metallic Aged Copper Spray Paint
  • Sand Paper
  • Ribbon
  • Parchment Paper

Sand the point of the skewer until it is blunt and won’t poke somebody’s eye out. After you have sanded it, use hot glue to make designs on the skewer. You can do dots and squiggles as well as layers of hot glue.

One the hot glue is dry, spray the brushes with metallic paint. The Aged Copper paint has more of a wand feel but the chrome ones are gorgeous and fun too!

Make a loop out of ric rac or ribbon and hot glue it to secure it together.

Place another dab of hot glue on top of the ribbon loop and press your wand into it. Cast a few spells and then hang it on your tree!
