How to make satin flowers

March 22, 2010 by Wifeeclectic 6 Comments

Note: I wrote this post originally on 30 minutes of sleep all night. You use satin, not silk. Sorry for the mixup

You will need satin, glue, a lighter and buttons for the center.

Cut circles of satin depending on the sizes you want. I used a formula can lid as a template for my biggest layer and a cup rim as my middle layer. Cut as many layers as you want, gradually getting smaller. I did three layers but you can do plenty more.

Scorch the edges of the satin until it starts to ruffle up a bit.
Glue each layer of satin together and finally finishing with a button of your choice on top. You can glue an alligator clip to the back or stayed tuned for my idea for these flowers.

This is the glue that my MIL swears by and I now love. I think you will be way happier with the outcome if you glue the flowers using this. It holds like steel.
