It seems like the longer the summer goes on, the more bored my daughter gets. We are both looking forward to school and activities it brings with it. I have been trying to have a craft for my daughter to do every day, to keep her busy.
A day a few weeks ago, my daughter slipped on her canvas shoes, the shoes were pretty dingy looking and I light bulb went off. I grabbed a garbage sack (to paint on), some foam brushes and my box of acrylic paint. We sat outside in the shade and painted her shoes together.
You will need:
Canvas Shoes, they can be new or old
acrylic paint
foam brushes
a garbage bag or drop cloth to cover the painting surface
Scrub the shoes, if they are used, before you begin to paint, so the paint is adhering to the shoe and not dirt. Allow them to dry and then give your kids the foam brushes. My daughter decided she wanted watermelon shoes, so I gave her some direction on how to do that and then just kind of let her go for it. I think next time around we are going to make some paint splatter shoes. We had so much fun painting these shoes and she loves to wear the shoes that she “made.”
What kind of crafts do you do with your kids in the summer?
