Kids Road Trip Boredom Hacks

July 28, 2015 by Wifeeclectic 19 Comments

This last May, we went on our first long road trip in almost three years. I was nervous to take a 1-year-old and 6-year-old on such a long trip in the car, especially when we planned on driving all the way from Utah to California in one day, but it ended up being so much fun to be in the car together. I put together an awesome boredom basket for the kids to play with and it kept them entertained for hours. We hardly even needed the electronics we brought at all. Here is everything that was in the basket.

 Printable Dino Play Mat.

 Travel Checkers with Free Printable.

 Magnetic Building Shapes.

 Printable ABC Matching Game.

 Printable Farm Play Mat.

 Printable Ocean Play Mat

Reusable Sticker Playsets.

 Silly Face Magnet Board.

 Travel Snack Boxes

 Magnetic Building Sticks.

 Magnetic Puzzle for travel.

 Magnetic Chalkboard for Travel.

Travel Car Play Mat

The combination of these fun and creative activities really made our trip enjoyable. How do you keep your kids entertained while on the road?

I love the way you put these play trays together so that everything will stay within the tray–very important when the child is seat belted in and can't get to pieces that have inadvertently fallen to somewhere out of reach!

What a great collection of travel games. I love all that can be done with the cookie sheet. I have traveled many road trips with my kids at all ages. I would have loved having games like this!

Oh, I love travel checkers! We drove over 2 hours to Gettysburg last week, and the trip was about 3 1/2 hours coming back. Having travel checkers would have helped the time go faster for my 4 kids.

We are considering a long car trip. My main concern is having to entertain a 2-year old for the whole stretch. I will sure study your trays more carefully to see, if they might work for us.

Oh wow! These are great ideas. Thank you for sharing 🙂 I especially like the snack boxes in the baby wipe containers. I have a friend that's literally moving (and making a road trip out of it!) from the south east to the north west! I'm planning on sending her and her family a little something for the trip, so thanks for the ideas!

I am loving the travel snack boxes. Isn't it amazing what you can do with wipes containers. I hope you will consider linking this up on the #HomeMattersParty linky that I host on my blog this weekend.
