This last May, we went on our first long road trip in almost three years. I was nervous to take a 1-year-old and 6-year-old on such a long trip in the car, especially when we planned on driving all the way from Utah to California in one day, but it ended up being so much fun to be in the car together. I put together an awesome boredom basket for the kids to play with and it kept them entertained for hours. We hardly even needed the electronics we brought at all. Here is everything that was in the basket.

The combination of these fun and creative activities really made our trip enjoyable. How do you keep your kids entertained while on the road?
Wow, you sure rocked those trays and made them everything they could possibly be!! 😀 What a great hack!
Love your ideas! I wish I had them when my son was little! He used to drive me nuts in the car!!!
This is wonderful! I wish I had this list of hacks last summer when we went on our road trip through Yellowstone! The snack boxes are an ingenious idea! Thank you for sharing these ideas!
I want the printable dino playmat it looks so fun and will certainly keep your kiddies entertained!
I love the way you put these play trays together so that everything will stay within the tray–very important when the child is seat belted in and can't get to pieces that have inadvertently fallen to somewhere out of reach!
We travel by car a lot, definitely adding some of these to my road trip idea bag- thanks!
That's an awesome boredom busting basket! Looks like hours of fun for everyone!
What a great collection of travel games. I love all that can be done with the cookie sheet. I have traveled many road trips with my kids at all ages. I would have loved having games like this!
Oh, I love travel checkers! We drove over 2 hours to Gettysburg last week, and the trip was about 3 1/2 hours coming back. Having travel checkers would have helped the time go faster for my 4 kids.
We are considering a long car trip. My main concern is having to entertain a 2-year old for the whole stretch. I will sure study your trays more carefully to see, if they might work for us.
Fantastic ideas, make me want to start a blog like this and leave my niche 🙂 so much fun with the kids. This wil be something i will definetly try with my lil one 🙂
Those magnetic trays are great. I know my kids would get hours of fun out of them.
Oh wow! These are great ideas. Thank you for sharing 🙂 I especially like the snack boxes in the baby wipe containers. I have a friend that's literally moving (and making a road trip out of it!) from the south east to the north west! I'm planning on sending her and her family a little something for the trip, so thanks for the ideas!
This is great! I love the magnets on the back on the puzzle. I need to do that one.
These all look like a lot of fun. Great ways to keep kids entertained in the car.
I so need these! We're headed to the mountains on a road trip next month!
I love your easy hacks for kids on the road! Can't wait until I have my own and can try them out. 🙂
I am loving the travel snack boxes. Isn't it amazing what you can do with wipes containers. I hope you will consider linking this up on the #HomeMattersParty linky that I host on my blog this weekend.
This board is just way too cool, I love how you adapted everything to work on it for on the go entertainment!
