When we lived in Texas, I asked my husband to bring home a new cutting board with him one day. When he walked in the door with a Lowe’s bag, I just assumed he forgot to stop by the store I needed. When he placed the bag on the counter and told me he bought me a couple different colors of cutting boards, I was perplexed.
It took some convincing for me to use the tiles as cutting boards, but I have ended up loving it. My husband’s reasoning behind the tiles was germs. Germs seep into those plastic and wood cutting boards, contaminating the next food you use them to cut. Food particles can’t seep into the tile. I was worried about the tile dulling my knifes, but I haven’t had any problems on that front either. I have to sharpen my knifes at the same intervals I did before.
I clean the tile just as I would any cutting board, or counter top I do not put it in the dishwasher, nor would I recommend that.
My husband likes them because they are more hygienic, I like them because they are pretty. Not often do we both get to win with kitchen items.

Smart germaphobe husband for the win! I will keep this in mind… I kind of love cutting boards 🙂 Do you put the tile in the dishwasher?
