Mickey and Minnie Tsum Tsum Pumpkins

If you have a kid in elementary school, then you probably know Tsum Tsums all too well. These cute little stackable versions of our favorite Disney characters even have their own shorts on the Disney Channel now. My kids are obsessed with these Disney friends, we own many of the little plastic ones and even some of the bigger stuffed ones. When I told my daughter I was going to make a Micky and a Minnie pumpkin she begged me to “Tsum Tsum them.” So here I present,  Mickey and Minnie Tsum Tsum Pumpkins .

You will need:

  • pumpkins (I used foam ones from Oriental Trading)
  • a pencil
  • scissors
  • bamboo skewers
  • hot glue
  • peach, black, white and red paint
  • paint brush

Mickey and Minnie Tsum Tsum Pumpkins - Foam Pumpkin

The steps for these two pumpkins are very similar, just differing in the last few steps. First paint the face area on both of the pumpkins. The face area looks kind of like the top of a heart near the top and then it goes in slightly on each side before rounding out at the bottom. This area of the pumpkin should be a beach color. Since the peach color is lighter than your pumpkin, you will need to paint several coats to get good coverage. Make sure to allow your pumpkin to dry completely between each coat.

Next fill in the area around the peach color with black. You will want to paint all around the face area and all the way back to about the middle of the pumpkin.

Paint the back part of the pumpkin red, this will either be Mickey’s Pants or Minnie’s Dress.

Cut four circles out of a cereal box. These will become the ears.

Paint the front and back of each circle black. Cut out a small semi circle out of the bottom of each ear to help the years fit snug against the pumpkin. After the ears are dry, add a line of hot glue to each year and secure a small bamboo skewer to each ear.

Add the ears to both of the pumpkins. Now you are ready to make them different. For Mickey, add two circle eyes where the face comes in a little bit and then an oval for a mouth and Mickey is done!

Minnie is a little bit more work, but not a lot. Add the same circle eyes and nose like you did with Mickey, except with Minnie add small eyelashes to the corner of each eye. Cut a hairbow out of your cereal box and paint it red. When it is dry add white polka dots to the bow. Hot glue the bow to the ears. Add white circles all over the back red part of Minnie to complete her dress.
