Whenever I make a craft that uses a glass block, my first stop is always the thrift store. Sure I can buy a glass block from the craft or home improvement store, but I can usually find one that has some vinyl slapped on it already for $1 at the thrift store. Then it is as simple as removing the vinyl. I usually do this with a scraper and it takes me less than 5 minutes.
Pick a font on your computer and layout our monogram. Make the last name initial as large as you want it off the measurements on the brick and then make the first name initials about three-quarters of that. You can do this in a program for you cutting machine or you can do it in word and then print it out and use it as a template for cutting the vinyl. Center the vinyl on the block and apply, smoothing out bubbles with a credit card.
Take a length of tulle that is several feet long and match it with the same length of ribbon. Lay the ribbon on top of the tulle and wrap around the block, starting at the bottom. Tie the ribbon into a bow and then into a bow again. Trim the excess length off the ends of the tulle and ribbon.

It looks great! I wouldn't even know where to get a clear block except at goodwill. Thanks for sharing!

Kari, I've seen them at Hobby Lobby. Simple is great when the wedding invitations start rolling in. Thank you!

And I've seen them at The Quilted Bear – you can buy them with the vinyl already on or plain. Love these!!
