The 4th of July is hands down my favorite holiday. I love the family BBQs, the celebration of our freedom and of course, the fireworks. Every year, I dress up my mantel from Memorial Day to the 4th of July with a red, white and blue theme. This year’s mantel might just be my favorite red, white and blue mantel I have ever done and it was so easy!
Patriotic Mantel
You will need:
- a large letter board
- a small letter board
- an old window
- a large vase
- red and white striped fabric
- white rocks
- Glitter 2×4 Flag
- Curly Flower Picks
Tape your red and white striped fabric to the back of your window. One yard was plenty of fabric to cover the entire back of my window with some leftover. Then hang your blue wreath in front of it. Instructions to make your own wreath for less than $10 is a little further on in the post.

Fill your vase with decorative rocks and place flowers or glittery colorful curls inside. I love decorating with letterboards because they are so easy to fit to your theme. This year I choose to do quotes from God Bless the USA, but you could use quotes from My Country Tis of Thee or even the National anthem.

Star Wreath
You will need:
- a wire wreath form
- six deep blue rolls of deep blue deco mesh (from the dollar store)
- white stars
- Pipe Cleaners
Tie the end of one of the rolls to the outside ring on the wreath. You can also use a pipe cleaner to secure the mesh, but I like using fewer supplies.

Pinch about three inches of mesh into a loop and push it through the top opening in the wreath. Pinch another three-inch loop and push it through the second opening. Pinch a third three-inch loop and push it through the third opening. Repeat the whole process over and over again until you run out of the mesh. One roll of dollar store mesh should fill one section of your wreath form, so you have one roll for each section.

Place the white stars throughout your wreath. You can secure them with hot glue if you want.
Add all of the elements to your mantel and you have a darling red, white and blue centerpiece, perfect for any Independence Day Celebration.
