Pitch Perfect 2 Movie Night!

September 28, 2015 by Wifeeclectic 21 Comments

“This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #ThePitchesatWMT http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV”

The Pitches are back! When Pitch Perfect 2 came out, we still hadn’t seen the first one. My husband ended up going to the movie with a bunch of coworkers and then informed me that it was something that I HAD to see. We got our hands on the first one that night and laughed harder than we have in a long time. When the second one came out on video, we immediately planned a movie night to celebrate, complete with our favorite it “Crushed It,” crushed candy bar dip, a fun printable and a cute CD craft to give the kiddos something to do! We bought the Special Edition set at Walmart that included the movie and a soundtrack with sounds from both movies.

This dip is hands down one of my favorite treats. Every time I am crushing the candy bars for it, I can’t help but channel Fat Amy and yell “Crushed it!” It was the perfect thing for our movie night. I try to only make it when we have friends coming over because I know I can and will eat it all myself if given the opportunity. It is easy to make and perfect for serving with fruit.

You will need:

  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup White Sugar
  • 1/2 bag of Toffee Pieces
  • 1 Brick of Cream Cheese
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • frozen Heath bars

Mix together everything but the frozen Heath bars until the dip is smooth. I like to make mine with cold cream cheese so the dip is stiffer but you can use softened cream cheese for a smoother dip. Mix just until the dip is combined. DO NOT over mix or you will loose the crunch of the toffee.Take a hammer or other hard object and crush the candy bars still in their wrappers. Unwrap and sprinkle the crumbs on the top of the dip.

Serve with fruit. I love to serve it with Granny Smith Apples. The tart and the sweet go together perfectly.

As part of our movie night, I wanted to make this printable to celebrate our favorite line from the first movie. You can find the printable at the end of this post. I used a bottle of glue to fill in the MMM….. and then sprinkled glitter on top of it, to give it more of that Pitch Perfect feel.

My daughter was bummed when she found out that she wasn’t going to get to stay up and watch the movie with us, so we created a fun craft in the beginning that left her creativity shine and was a lot of fun.

You will need:

  • an old cd
  • craft foam
  • sequins, jewels
  • glue
  • scissors

Help you child cut out the fins, tail and mouth from any color of craft foam and glue to the CD

Hand you child the bottle of glue and a bag of sequins and let them go crazy. We bought an assorted bag of all different kinds so my daughter could make whatever she wanted.

After they are finished gluing sequins everywhere, allow to dry and then hang up using string. My daughter loved making this and she was able to do everything pretty much on her own, which made it the perfect craft to keep her occupied during our movie night.

Head to Walmart to grab the exclusive Pitch Perfect 2 Blu-Ray/Soundtrack combo pack. Soundtrack includes some of your favorite songs from Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2 (while supplies last) to create your own fun Pitch Perfect 2 movie night.

What would you include in your movie night?

I haven't turned TV on in 7 years (except for presidential debates). I used to love movies! I should find a way to make them part of my life again!

The dip looks yummy! But let's talk about Pitch Perfect 2…

When it came out in the theater my oldest daughter (who is 13) asked if I could take her and some of her friends to see it. I bemoaned the idea of sitting through this movie but with much trepidation I agreed.

And then I loved it. Like, I was cracking up the whole time. Great movie 🙂 Can't wait for PP3!
