Be consistent. Stay with Pull-Ups Plus don’t go back to diapers!
Plan to stay home. Potty training on the go would be messy and stressful. Plan to stay home for a good 3-4 days when you first start training.
Let them know they are a big kid. One of my daughter’s favorite things is to see me put lip gloss on in front of a mirror. So we gave her a tube and let her put it on over and over because she is a big kid now!
Make a potty station. Have everything you need in one bathroom in your house. Stick to one bathroom while you child is learning, I have found this kind of consistency really helps. Set up a basket in the bathroom with everything you need for the potty and accidents. I include books and Pull-Ups Plus in mine.
Dye the water blue. My kids absolutely love this because it is fun to watch the water turn green when they go to the bathroom. For me, it has a little more practical reason, I want to reward any successes no matter how small, and this can help me figure out if they actually did have a success or not.

Read potty training books together. Reading these kind of books together can help you little one feel familiar with the idea of potty training.
Potty Training Charts. Use a potty training chart and stickers to mark their progress. Let your child add a sticker to their potty training chart for every success they have!
Offer prizes. Offering a prize when your child has a success can make them more eager to have another success. We love to use things like bubbles, coloring books, fruit snacks, stickers and glow sticks.
Prevent toilet paper clogs. Mark a place on the wall with a sticky note or note card to show your child how much toilet paper to use. This will help them get into a good habit and keep them from unrolling too much and clogging the toilet or leaving it on the floor.
Celebrate success. When you have a success call someone who will make a big deal about it. For us this is an aunt or grandma.
Set a timer. Set a timer for 30 minutes and every 30 minutes put them on the potty. Doing this for a couple days in a row will help potty training stick better.
Use minimal clothing. We stick to a t-shirt and a Pull-Ups Plus for the first few days so they don’t have to worry about getting undressed to use the potty.
Lots of liquids. Make sure you buy them their favorite drink. On the first couple of days of potty training, you want them to be drinking fluids all day long so they have lots of changes for success.
Don’t get frustrated. You don’t want them to associate potty training with your frustration.
Don’t let accidents get to you. Let them know when they have an accident that cleaning up an accident isn’t fun, but make sure to make it about the accident and not about them!
