You will need:
- The printable found at the bottom of this post.
- A laminator and laminating Sheets, I use this one and love it!
- a binder pouch to keep the letters in
- magnetic letters
- magnet tape for the back of the play mat
- cookie sheet to play on (I bought mine at the dollar store)
Print and laminate your printable. That’s it! This is probably the easiest of all my play mats. You can add some magnet tape to the back of the play mat to help it stay on the cookie sheet better.
You can use an old cookie sheet, but I found that the cookie sheets at the dollar store are the right size for a regular sheet of paper. I bought a dollar cookie sheet and then spray painted it turquoise, while the paint was still wet, I threw pink glitter on the cookie sheet. I actually painted this cookie sheet more than 4 years ago and it has held up really well!

I love a simple project! I bet Forrest would love this one.
My son really loved doing his ABC's. I think this is something he would have enjoyed. Might still do actually!
Absolutely love this! Such a fun way to work on the ABC's
I wish I thought about doing this when my son was little. What a great way to learn and have fun all at the same time! Very creative!
That is such a great idea! I will be printing this out and using it with my daughter.

I love the idea of spray painting one from the dollar store. We've played with letters on the fridge, but the portability of this is awesome.
This does sound like it would be great for a road trip or even a rainy day activity. Educational and fun-you can't beat that combination.
Very cute idea. I used to make sheets for the fridge (uppercase and lowercase) and my daughter would match them with her magnets. I'd switch the upper and lower cases thenwe went to words. Yours is great for travel though.
Ahh I seriously LOVE this! I have been looking for more educational activities and my son love the alphabet, so we need this!
What a great idea. This would be a great road trip activity to keep the kiddos occupied!
So fun! Perfect for traveling too!
I think this would be a great idea for my three year old! I wish I had a laminator though! Great ideas Debra!
Such a simple project! My daughter would even love to help in the painting process and throwing on glitter. She is only three, but is glitter obsessed.
This is a great idea for helping kids learn their letters. I don't think they would even realize they were learning (lol). We love to do Mad Libs and play the license plate game on road trips. Happy summer!
I love the portability of this! It has me thinking of ways it could be adapted for my 6th grade classroom for vocabulary activities! Thanks.
This would be fun for my granddaughter. She is 2 and already doing so great!
This is a great idea!
I love that you put it on a cookie sheet so the letters stick, that's genius and so great for car rides!
What a great project! My daughter would have loved this when she was little!
I'll have to try this with my toddler. HE would go nuts for this activity!
its really nice , my son would surely like this , we will try this . thank you for sharing this awesome post
I love this and I'm sure my daughter would too because we're learning about letters right now! Thanks for sharing this clever idea!
