This post is sponsored by Cricut. But the ideas and opinions are my own.
If you have spent any sort of time on Youtube, then you have probably seen The Mysterious Ticking Noise by the Harry Potter Puppet Pals. My kids still sing it all the time even years and years after I first showed it to them. It is funny and honestly, kind of catchy. I made this fun shirt to pay homage to it and I love how it turned out, front and back!
For this project you will need:
- a black shirt
- white heat transfer
- an Easy Press
- a Cricut
When you open the new Cricut Design Space, it will look like the photo above. The top banner will be followed by projects that you have created. You can see some of my latest projects like the Soccer Shirt I just made for my daughter. Below your projects will be Make It Now Projects, a fun variety of predesigned projects that are great when you are looking for something cute and fast to make. To get started in the New Cricut Design Space, hit the plus sign on the left hand side of your projects or the green New Project button in the top right corner.
After you select New Project, a blank canvas will open up for you. The canvas is a grid, so you will be able to see exactly how big your project is. Each of the little squares is an inch. For this simple and easy project, we will being added some of our own words.
Add text by hitting the text button in the far left menu. A text box will pop up and you can type what you want the project to say. For this project, I typed Snape, Snape, Severus, Snape, Dumbledore all in different text boxes so I could change the fonts on them. One of my favorite thing about Cricut Design Space is that it will pull up all of the fonts on your computer plus all of the Cricut fonts so you can take your pick of what you want to use.
Select the text box that you want to change the font on and a font box will appear at the top of the page so you can change the font. Resize the words by selecting them and them dragging the arrows in the bottom left corner.
When your project looks the way you want it, it the Make It button in the top right corner of the screen.

You will notice that when you hit Make It, your Cricut reorganizes all of your text to save heat transfer. If you want it to cut just like you had it, hit back, select everything and then hit attach in the bottom right corner. This will tell the machine to cut it out in that same layout.
Hit the mirror image button on the right hand side, your project will flip on the screen and look backwards. If you are making a project using heat transfer, you always need to mirror the image. Place the iron-on shiny side down onto your Cricut mat and then load your mat into your machine.

If you are using an Explore, spin the dial to iron-on and hit the flashing Cricut button. If you are using a Maker, select iron-on from the materials list on your screen.
After you have selected your material type, hit the flashing go button and your project will start cutting.
Peel the heat transfer off of your mat and then weed (peel apart) the heat transfer until just your design remains on the sticky backing. Stick the iron on face down onto your shirt. You will be able to see through the plastic backing so you can put your project together just the way you want it. Just make sure that none of the letters or images are touching the plastic backing of another element or it will fuse to that instead of your tote bag.
Heat your Easy Press to the correct setting, for 100% Cotton you want 305 degrees and a 30 second timer, for a cotton/poly blend you want the same temperature but a 20 second timer. Place the Easy Press over your design and start the timer. Apply pressure to the design while the timer runs down. Start pulling up the plastic backing and if any of the elements pull up at all, put the plastic back down and iron that area again. Peel the plastic sheet off and your shirt is ready to go!
Have you ever used an Easy Press before?

Snape is one of my favorite characters and I love this shirt! What a fun idea. It came out great.
I’m in love with this shirt! It’s perfect for Halloween. You did an excellent job and I really need a Cricut!
Haha I love it! It still amazes me that even though Harry Potter came out a while ago – how many still geek out over it. It’s a once in a lifetime phenomenon!
My son would love this shirt. There is so much you can do with Cricut now, it’s amazing.
Cute shirt. We attended a symphony performance of the music of Harry Potter over the weekend. It was so adorable seeing all the wizards in attendance.
This is so cool. I need a Cricut to make some awesome shirts. Normally I pay people on Etsy, but I should just make them on my own. Love your shirts!
I love DIY tees. This tee is adorable. I can see me making some truly awesome campaigns on tees. You just inspired me lol
Hahah I love this as soon as I saw the top I started singing it in my head as well, the Harry Potter puppets are awesome!
What a fun project and your instruction are clear and precise. This would be fun to make and wear for the whole family.
I remember when my daughter was obsessed with Potter Puppet Pals. She would have wanted me to make her a shirt like this.
I have never heard of this before, but I am not crafty at all. Looks and sounds pretty cool
I want to get a Cricut so badly! This is such a fun project that you made with it. My daughter would love this shirt!
Love this! I’m such a Snape fan.
You make it look so easy! I may need to invest in one! It would be great to use for costumes and a bunch of other stuff!
Wow this turned out so well! The Cricut must be super useful to have around for fun projects like this.
As a HUGE Harry Potter fan I am in LOVE with this shirt!! Thanks for the tutorial, I may just have to attempt this myself soon!!
My niece would love this shirt! She is a big fan of Harry Potter! I haven’t used Easy Press before but seems like it makes creating these fun shirts much easier.
What a great shirt. I really wish I had a Cricut.
